As a white person I have privilege. I have never feared for my life while wearing a hoodie, nor lost a loved one to police brutality. I will NEVER even begin to know the struggle or pain the black community is feeling. It is not my place as a white person to speak on behalf of the black community, nor accept glory for advocating for black lives because that is something we ALL should be doing. Not just today and tomorrow, but forever. As you are posting your stories on Facebook and Instagram, make sure you stand by them once the protests die down. This is not the time to sit silent or become defensive about your privilege (which if you are, please educate yourself on what white privilege is here), use it to speak up and help those who don’t have it.This isn’t a trend to hop on, these are people’s lives.
